During the early morning hours of Thursday August 15, Officers of the Grover Beach Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Rockaway Ave for a reported Burglary that just occurred. Patrol officers contacted the residents and determined one male suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Michael L. Davis, Jr., of Grover Beach, entered an occupied home and was in the process of stealing items from the home when confronted by the occupants. Davis then battered both the male and female occupants prior to taking property from the home and fleeing the area.
With the help of the victims, the patrol officers were able to quickly identify the suspect and a search of the city began for Davis. Officers were able to locate Davis in the 100 block of North 4th Street where he was taken into custody without incident. Evidence related to the crime scene was recovered when Davis was arrested. Davis was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for one count of Burglary and one count of Robbery. His bond amount was set at $60,000.
