Allegations of SLO Detective Forcing Informants Into Dangerous Activity

slo-badgeTwo alleged former drug informants are filing claims against San Luis Obispo. Kip Holland of Avila Beach, and April Stewart, of San Luis Obispo, say that a former SLO police detective forced them into helping engage in dangerous and illegal activity. Pierce was charged with  federal bribery in February 2013 and ultimately pleaded guilty to extortion. He was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison in December. Holland and Stewart now want money from the city.

Holland and Stewart claim in 2011 they became sources of drugs for Pierce while he was assigned to the Narcotics Task Force with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in 2006. The two alleged informants also said Pierce forced them to become addicted to drugs and Pierce would reward them for acquiring cash and drugs for him. No action was taken in yesterday’s closed session.
