On February 5, at about 5:30 a.m., San Luis Obispo County Gang Task Force and the Atascadero Police Department, assisted by the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED), Paso Robles Police Department, California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and CHP Air Operations, served a search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Oak Street in Paso Robles.
Jorge Cruz, 21 years, from Paso Robles, was taken into custody without incident for an arrest warrant charging assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and a felony gang enhancement stemming from an assault in the City of Atascadero in December of 2013.
Following service of the warrant, two additional search warrants were served at residences in the 9300 block of Bocina, Atascadero, and the 7800 block of Estrella Road in San Miguel.The search warrants were sought following a 2 month investigation into numerous crimes in the Cities of Atascadero and Paso Robles.
Arrested in the operation were: Jorge Cruz, 21 years, Paso Robles for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, and felony gang enhancement;Juan Carlos Pacheco, 18 years, Paso Robles for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, and felony gang enhancement; and Hector Ivan Lupercio-Chavez, 18 years, Paso Robles for a violation of probation.
The County Gang Task Force has been assisting local agencies with a growing problem with increasing gang activity directly associated with the Norteno criminal street gangs. These crimes currently being investigated include, but are not limited to, discharge of firearms at vehicles and dwellings, assaults resulting in injury and property related crimes, including vandalism. These investigations are on-going and active. Additional information may be released at a later time pending outcome.
