Power Outage In Templeton

A widespread outage left folks in the Templeton area without power Tuesday.  The power outage occurred around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.  PG&E says close to 3,000 customers were affected.  Twin Cities Community Hospital also lost service but they switched to backup generators.  The outage area was mostly on the west side of town.  PG&E restored power shortly before 9pm that evening.  …

Sherpa Fire 89% Contained

Cal Fire reports the Sherpa wildfire near Goleta is now 89% contained.  Most mandatory evaluations in the area were lifted this morning.  Full containment is estimated to occur Thursday morning.  The cause of the fire that has charred about 8000 acres is still under investigation.

A man sustained serious injuries in a rollover crash off of Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo last night.  The crash happened yesterday around 8pm near Kansas Avenue between Cuesta College and the California Men’s Colony. The Sherpa wildfire continues to burn northwest of Goleta.  As of 10:15am Tuesday, the fire is 70 percent contained.  So far the blaze has consumed close to 8000 acres.  Additional firefighters have arrived – bringing the total number of fire personnel on scene to just under 22 hundred.  Evacuation orders in the surrounding communities remain in effect.  However much of …

Fire crews are now in their sixth day of battling the Sherpa wildfire burning west of Goleta.  Authorities say the blaze is as stubborn as they come, with winds as high as 55 miles per hour hampering efforts to control it.  The U.S. Forest Service said the fire was 51-percent contained as of Sunday night.  Nearly 8,000 acres have been …
