Brush Fire in Paso Robles



On Thursday, 6:07 PM, Paso Robles firefighters responded to a vegetation fire in the Salinas Riverbed near the 13th Street bridge. First arriving firefighters found a wind driven vegetation fire burning in the riverbed towards 13th Street.

The fire was contained to one acre at approximately 7:20 PM after several spot fires in front of the fire were extinguished. No structures were damaged by the fire. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

Safety Enhancement Zone in Effect on Sunday



The Safety Enhancement Zone will go into effect at 12:01 am on Sunday, September 14 and conclude on Monday, September 29 at 7:00 am. Sobriety and License Checkpoint on September 26



The Cal Poly University Police Department will conduct a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, September 26, 2014 on the Cal Poly campus. Traffic flowing through the checkpoint will be contacted by uniformed officers who will be checking for alcohol and/or drug-impaired drivers. Officers will also check to make sure all drivers have a valid driver’s license.

Missing Man Found Safe This Morning



In the early morning hours of Thursday the San Luis Obispo Police Department was notified of a critical missing person in the area of the 400 block of Bluerock.

Art Armstrong, an 84 years old resident of San Luis Obispo with dementia, went missing last night about 7. He was found safe this morning.

Traffic Stop Results in Arrest for Stolen Car



On Tuesday at approximately 1050 a.m., a Paso Robles Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge pickup truck after noticing the driver was not wearing his seatbelt in the area of Oak Hill Rd.. Upon contact with the driver, who was identified as 44-year-old Daniel Lee Stainbrook of Paso Robles, it was determined that Stainbrook was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Fight Victim Identified



The Coroner's Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office has identified the male victim who died during a fight in San Miguel on Sunday. He is identified as 54-year-old Alvaro Jaramillo Medrano of San Miguel. Next of kin have been notified. An autopsy is planned for today. The results of that autopsy will be pending toxicology results which are expected to take six to eight weeks. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects. Inve

Man Taken Into Custody For Alleged Kidnapping and Torture



On September 8, at approximately 11:30 p.m., San Luis Obispo Police Officers responded to the Chevron Station at 151 Santa Rosa for the report of an assault victim inside the business.  When officers arrived they found a 27-year-old female with significant injuries covering her entire body hiding inside the business.  The injuries on the victim consisted of burn marks, lacerations, scratches, bruising, and extreme swelling. City of SLO and American Legion Are Hosting 9/11 Ceremony



The City of San Luis Obispo and the American Legion (Post 66) are hosting the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Laguna Lake Golf Course (11175 Los Osos Valley Road). As part of this year’s ceremony, a steel I-beam the World Trade Center Towers will be on display for public viewing.

Three Fatal Crashes on Central Coast



Three fatals on the Central coast. At 1:48 a.m. Monday, 34-year-old Julio Pegueros from Santa Barbara was killed when he ran into a construction vehicle that was closing a lane on 101 northbound just past Bates Road in Carpinteria. And the CHP released the names of two Santa Maria women killed in a crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 154 just west of Foxen Canyon Road.
