Vehicle Fire in Paso Robles



Yesterday at 1:05 PM, two companies of Paso Robles firefighters and one Battalion Chief responded to a vehicle fire that extended into roadside vegetation on Highway 46 near Union Road in the City of Paso Robles.

Firefighters arrived at scene to find a passenger vehicle fully involved in fire and extending into roadside vegetation. First arriving fire department resources extinguished the vehicle fire and quickly put out the vegetation fire. The fire was contained at 1:21 PM. Read More »

Caltrans Hosting Transportation Planning Workshop

American Red Cross Deploying Napa Earthquake Relief Effort


Ryan McMahon, Disaster Program Manager for the San Luis Obispo County chapter of the American Red Cross, is deploying to the Napa earthquake relief effort. Ryan is a staff member of the Red Cross, guiding volunteers in the delivery of our many types of disaster services.

Ryan will work on information and planning activities at the Red Cross offices in Santa Rosa, CA, which is serving as Red Cross disaster headquarters for our earthquake relief efforts. Police Subdue, Arrest Alleged Suicidal UCSB Student


At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to a report of a suicidal subject with a firearm inside an apartment in the 700 block of Camino Del Sur. The reporting party identified the subject as 20-year-old Joshua Hillsburg, a UCSB student, and relayed that he had a gun and wanted to kill himself. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the apartment, secured a perimeter and attempted to make contact with Hillsburg. Code Enforcement Leads To Drug Arrest


Grover Beach Police Officers assisted the Grover Beach Code Enforcement Officer with a compliance investigation at the residential address of 470 N. 3rd Street in Grover Beach this morning. During the compliance check, the officers located four adults inside the residence along with narcotics and a shotgun. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Glenn Taylor, 32 of Grover Beach for sales of methamphetamine, possession of a gun while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Brush Fire Near Harris Grade



At 4:05 pm, Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD) responded to a reported vegetation fire, located south of the Harris Grade summit.

The fire spread initially from 5 to 10 acres, at a moderate rate of spread on the east side of Harris Grade.  The fire was slope driven and burned in pine trees. Wind was not a factor. Man Pled No Contest to Theft of Aqua-Cultural Products



District Attorney Joyce E. Police Prepare for Labor Day Weekend



From 12:01 AM Friday August 15, 2014 through Midnight Thursday August 21, 2014 officers representing 11 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 61 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  There were 73 DUI arrests during the same period in 2013.
