Morro Bay Public Safety Transitions to Regional Dispatching



Yesterday at 10:00 a.m., Morro Bay Public Safety transitioned to regional dispatching. Morro Bay Police, Fire and Harbor will now be dispatched by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire. Second Suspect Arrested in Child Abuse Case



Saturday based on information discovered through the course of their investigation, Detectives with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office arrested a second suspect in connection with a recent case involving a child abuse victim. Detectives arrested 38-year-old Richard Scott Brooks of San Francisco. He was booked into County Jail on three counts of rape by force or fear. Child Abuse Incident



On 8-25-14, the Sheriff's Office received a report of child abuse involving a minor under the age of 18. Deputies and Detectives initiated an investigation into the incident which had occurred the month prior. A suspect was identified as 38-year-old Oscar Higueros, Jr., of Cayucos. Vehicle Fire in Paso Robles



Yesterday at 1:05 PM, two companies of Paso Robles firefighters and one Battalion Chief responded to a vehicle fire that extended into roadside vegetation on Highway 46 near Union Road in the City of Paso Robles.

Firefighters arrived at scene to find a passenger vehicle fully involved in fire and extending into roadside vegetation. First arriving fire department resources extinguished the vehicle fire and quickly put out the vegetation fire. The fire was contained at 1:21 PM.

Caltrans Hosting Transportation Planning Workshop

American Red Cross Deploying Napa Earthquake Relief Effort


Ryan McMahon, Disaster Program Manager for the San Luis Obispo County chapter of the American Red Cross, is deploying to the Napa earthquake relief effort. Ryan is a staff member of the Red Cross, guiding volunteers in the delivery of our many types of disaster services.

Police Subdue, Arrest Alleged Suicidal UCSB Student


At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to a report of a suicidal subject with a firearm inside an apartment in the 700 block of Camino Del Sur. The reporting party identified the subject as 20-year-old Joshua Hillsburg, a UCSB student, and relayed that he had a gun and wanted to kill himself. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the apartment, secured a perimeter and attempted to make contact with Hillsburg.
