The full scale test of the San Luis Obispo County Early Warning System sirens took place Saturday. The sirens were activated twice to test the primary and backup controls for the system. The Cambria Community Services District today reported water production totals for July 2014, showing another sharp drop in usage from prior years and historical averages.
Water production at CCSD wells during the month, normally the highest-usage time of the year, totaled 42.82 acre-feet. This was the lowest July total in CCSD records, which go back to 1988. It was also 44% below both the total for July 2013 and the historical average for the month.

Operators at Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) Diablo Canyon Power Plant safely returned Unit 2 to full power on Thursday, August 21, following the completion of maintenance activities on backup diesel generators. The unit was safely taken off-line on August 14 to perform the work. Unit 1 continues to operate at full power.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred just outside the entrance to Guadalupe Beach in the 6900 block of Main Street.
