Brush Fire in Lompoc

A vegetation fire broke out in Lompoc yesterday around 1:30 p.m. on San Miguelito Canyon Road. About 700 acres have been burned. Reverse 911 calls had gone out to 1200 homes and businesses as well as numerous evacuation orders. Some evacuated residents can return to their homes, but there is still a mandatory evacuation order for people south of Willow Road. The fire is about 50% contained, with no property damage or injuries so far. A shift in the wind caused the fire to move towards Highway 1, causing Highway 1 to be closed for the day.
