Santa Maria Man Recovers After Stabbing

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says a man is recovering from being stabbed multiple times in the Tanglewood area near Santa Maria Saturday night. A 41-year-old man was found lying in the street of Ironwood Drive just after 11:00 p.m. with numerous stab wounds. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. The sheriff's office says the stabbing is still under investigation and they ask anyone with information about the incident to call 911 or their anonymous tip line at (805)681-4171.

Felon Arrested with Firearms

A convicted felon from the Cuyama area is in Santa Barbara County Jail after he was found to be in possession of several firearms. A woman called 9-1-1 from a home in the Ventucopa area last Tuesday at 4 a.m. to say she was being threatened by a man with a shotgun. The police did not find the woman, but did find the homeowner, 62-year-old Marc Steele. 

Steele, a convicted felon, told police he had gotten into a disagreement with a female escort and her male chaperone over payment.  He denied threatening the escort but admitted to having a shotgun.  Police confiscated the shotgun and arrested Steele for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Two Fires Over the Weekend

Two fires occurred in the Central Coast this past weekend. The first fire happened at a home on Hemlock Avenue in Morro Bay at 1:39 A.M. The Morro Bay Fire and Police Department found flames present at the main electrical panel on the exterior of the building. The fire was extinguished within minutes and contained to the outside of the building.

The residence was occupied and evacuated with no reported injuries. There was approximately $2,000 in damage. The second fire occurred at the Flying Flags RV Park in Santa Barbara County, where a neighbor got three people out of a cabin on fire late Saturday night. The fire started at around 11:10 in a 1,000 square foot cabin with a family sleeping inside.

Grover Beach Driver Arrested for Possession of Meth

A Grover Beach driver was arrested Wednesday morning at 11 for possession of meth. The driver, Austin Ross, was stopped on Highway 1 by a police officer who arrested Ross after discovering he was driving on a suspended license and possession of hashish. The officer subsequently searched Ross’s car to find 83.8 grams of packaged methamphetamine and other paraphernalia used to sell narcotics. Ross is currently in San Luis Obispo County jail charged with transportation and possession of narcotics, hashish and drug paraphernalia, as well as for driving while suspended.

SBPD Search for Man Who Used Stolen Credit Card

Santa Barbara police are searching for a man who allegedly used a stolen credit card at a liquor store. Police say the man went to a store on Santa Barbara's Westside around 10:30 p.m. on April 13. in a white pickup truck. Earlier in the evening, a woman had her purse stolen at Santa Barbara Harbor, and she says the man in the white pickup truck used her credit card. SLO Marathon This Weekend

The third annual San Luis Obispo Marathon is this weekend. Roads throughout the city will be closed from 4:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday for the full and half marathon. Race organizers and the city encourage drivers to use Highway 101 to travel between the north and south parts of the city. There are over 4,000 runners signed up for the race. The 5K and fun run will be at the Madonna Meadows on Saturday.

Downtown Meters Donate to Homeless

The city of San Luis Obispo on Thursday unveiled seven new downtown meters as part of a pilot program to donate to the homeless. The money raised from the new meters will be donated to the Prado Day Center to help those who ask for money to support addictive or negative habits. People can use the new meters by either swiping a credit card or depositing coins.

Coroner Releases Information on Deadly Crash

The San Luis Obispo County Coroner released new information yesterday on a deadly crash on Highway 46 East back in February. It was determined that the driver, 26-year-old Jeremy Nathanial Martin had THC, Codeine, and Ibuprofen in his system when he drove his car into an on-coming pickup truck. Contractor Arrested for Burglary and Eavesdropping

A North County contractor was arrested over the weekend for burglary and eavesdropping. The San Luis Obsipo County Sheriff’s Office is accusing 34-year-old Eutimio Anguiano of San Miguel of placing cameras behind vents in the master bedroom of three different homes. The Sheriff's Office wants you to call them if you find any similar tampering your home.   Read More »

Grover Beach Listed in Top 15 Small Cities in California

Cities Journal lists Grover Beach as one of the top 15 small cities in California. The magazine listed Grover Beach because the city "offers a convenient middle ground if you love the beach lifestyle, but also want to be close to mountains and colder weather."
