Police Ask for Information in Shooting

The shooting deaths of two Santa Maria men Saturday night are the 12th and 13th homicides of the year. Police say 42-year old Ramiro Gonzalez, and 26-year-old Manuel Manzano-Mata were shot in the area of Jewel St. and Via Rubio. The two men died later in the hospital. Fatal Crash Victim Identified

The CHP has identified an Arroyo Grande man who was killed in a crash last Thursday on Highway 101 in San Luis as 29-year-old Connor Wiens. The crash happened at about 9:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at the Los Osos Valley Road off ramp. Wiens’ Honda was involved in a rear-end collision with a Chevy Tahoe. …

The Swiss Chalet steakhouse on North Broadway in Santa Maria caught fire yesterday morning about 11.   Fire officials say the small blaze was found above the front door.  to the bar area . Apparently exposed wiring from a neon sign started the fire.  The restaurant will stay open. The bar will need to be repaired.
