Sheriff’s Coroner Positively Identifies Plane Crash Victims


The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Unit has positively identified the two victims who were killed in a plane crash on August 6, 2015.  The pilot is 58-year-old David Martz of San Diego and the passenger is 56-year-old Greg Bacino, also from San Diego.   Next of kin notifications have been made. On August 7, 2015, the Grover Beach Police Department Detective Bureau concluded an investigation into the sexual assault of a juvenile victim by a male adult identified as Joel Gerardo Valdez Vazquez, 31, a resident of San Luis Obispo. Small Airplane Crash in Santa Barbara Being Investigated


A Cessna 182 airplane, enroute from SLO County airport to San Diego, crashed in Santa Barbara County late last night, killing the pilot on board. The plane crashed near Jameson Lake, about 40 miles from Ojai. The NTSB is investigating.

Shark Spotted Near Jamala Beach


Yesterday at 10:50 a.m., Jalama Beach County Lifeguards witnessed what appeared to be a large shark. The sighting occurred 40 yards offshore from the Jalama Store in approximately 15 feet of water.
