The City of San Luis Obispo Utilities Department will reveal major changes at its wastewater treatment plant later today. The department is working on improving the energy efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant as part of its Progressive Resource and Energy Partnership initiative.
The city is working with PG&E to further the city's goal of being environmentally and fiscally responsible. The wastewater treatment plant treats more than 1.7 billion gallons of wastewater each year. The new project will help control costs, and it will be better for the environment. The city will reveal the new plans at a press conference this morning.
