Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Must Reduce Its Environmental Impact By 93%

The Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is being told by the The State Water Resources Control Board that it must reduce its environmental impact by 93%. This because Diablo is cooled by ocean water which creates a greater risk to the environment. The Board has recommended PG&E hire a third party to come up with alternative systems.  So PG&E hired Bechtel, which came up with three potential solutions including installing cooling towers, which financially is too costly, putting screens on the current pipes, or making the pipes go further offshore. today, a Review Committee made up of several agencies, including the California Coastal Commission, Central Coast Regional Water Control Board, and PG& meeting in Sacramento to take a look at the options.
