Ghost Bike Used As Memorial

At the crash site, a white-painted ghost bike, used as a memorial to remember a cyclist who has died from a traffic collision.

According to the website www.ghostbikes.org, the white bikes were first used as memorials in 2003 in St. Louis, Missouri. Since then, they've been used as a symbol across the world. A San Luis Obispo County official with the Public Works and Transportation Department said while they don't encourage large, distracting signs, they do encourage family or friends of the lost loved one to contact their office to have a memorial sign put up by the County.
