No more warnings. That’s the word from the Grover Beach Police department when it comes to distracted driving. In an effort to persuade drivers that it is a bad idea to text or operate your hand held device while driving, the Grover Beach PD will be actively ticketing anybody doing either throughout the month of April.
According to the Grover PD distracted drivers are four times more likely to be involved in a serious crash. A press release from the department also states that distracted drivers will get no warning. Instead they will get a ticket that carries a first time fine of 159 dollars.
Grover Beach PD joins 225 other law enforcement agencies statewide, including the CHP, that are cracking down on distracted driving, declaring April “distracted driving awareness month”
