Increase In Prowling Activity Seen In SLO Neighborhood

Over the last several weeks the Police Department has experienced an increase in prowling related activity in the area of Sandercock and Broad. On one occasion a prowler physically entered into a residence where a female victim was sleeping. The victim awoke, confronted the prowler and the prowler fled. The prowler was described as a Hispanic Male, 45-55 years of age, approximately 5’4” tall with short black hair and a mustache. At this time the police department is not able to determine if this increased activity is the responsibility of one individual or more. Evidence has been collected from some of the prowling scenes that may assist in the identification of a suspect(s). The Police Department is taking this activity seriously and is aggressively investigating these incidents. It is important for citizens to be conscientious of their surroundings and look out for one another. Suspicious activity in your neighborhood should be reported immediately to the Police Department. Citizens are asked to lock their doors and windows to reduce the chances of being victimized. Inspecting your house for proper lighting and other security measures is always recommended. Anyone with information pertaining to these investigations is encouraged to contact the police department.
