Inmate Death is First Flu-Related Death in SLO This Season

SLO County Public Health say the inmate who died this week is the first flu-related death in SLO County this season. Officials report that 35-year-old Rudy Silva was not vaccinated against the flu.

Silva, died Monday in the ICU at an area hospital. Sheriff's officials said the inmate was diagnosed with the H1N1 strain of the virus and transported to the hospital. Public Health workers say the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu is to get the vaccine. Adding that, it is not too late to to get your flu shot.
