Insect Dangerous to Citrus Found in Arroyo Grande

The San Luis Obispo County Agriculture Department confirmed they found an Asian Citrus Psyllid on March 26 in Arroyo Grande. This is not good news for San Luis Obsipo growers, as the insect is capable of killing citrus trees. The Department of Agriculture has quarantined areas including Pismo Beach to Nipomo that forces growers to exterminate the insects before moving their fruit or trees. The Agriculture Commissioner believes the quarantine will be in place for two years.
