Lompoc Woman Killed In Single-Car Accident Near Buellton

caraccidentCHP officers were called to the scene on a single vehicle collision this morning, which occurred on Santa Rosa Road, just east of SR 1.  Upon their arrival, it was discovered a 2003 VW Bug had drifted off the right side of the roadway then over-corrected back across the roadway where it struck an embankment and overturned. 

The driver, a 24-year-old female resident of Lompoc, was found deceased partially ejected from the vehicle.  She had not been wearing a seat belt.  There were no other occupants. 

Alcohol is considered to be a factor in this collision.  The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Department will be conducting a routine toxicology to confirm driver’s the level of impairment.  The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  No other vehicles were involved. 

It is estimated the collision occurred sometime between 11:00 PM last night and 6:00 AM this morning.  If anyone has information regarding this collision, please contact the CHP in Buellton at 688-5551.
