Man Arrested In Carpinteria On Drug And Weapons Charges

Fernando-PerezA Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputy may have saved lives when he arrested a man in Carpinteria.  Deputy Amjadi arrested 27-year-old Fernando Perez Monday morning.

Perez was parked in front of businesses that are open 24 hours a day.  Amjadi found Perez under the influence of a Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant and arrested him.

Perez also had a loaded revolver in his waistband.  Deputies searched his person and vehicle to find methamphetamine, methamphetamine pipes, a Derringer pistol and a loaded SKS assault rifle with a high capacity magazine, masks and two-way radios.

Police say the evidence suggests Perez may have been planning to commit additional crimes.

Perez was in Santa Barbara County Jail with bail was set at $95,000. He posted bail last night and was released from jail this morning.
