Man With Three Felony Warrants Arrested

This morning about 5 a.m., San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 38-year-old Marc Steele of Atascadero. Three active felony warrants had been issued for Steele including a December 2012 charge of assault with a deadly weapon for intentionally ramming his vehicle into a Sheriff's patrol unit. Steele was located at a residence in Atascadero. He was believed to be armed and was using a video surveillance system at the home. A flash bang diversion device was used in order to distract and capture the suspect and to protect the residents, deputies and Steele. No shots were fired and Steele was taken into custody without incident from his home at 7025 Portola Rd. Sheriff's Deputies, Detectives, Members of the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail, K9 units, along with Atascadero Police and a CHP helicopter assisted in the arrest.
