PG&E Officials Investigate Sunday’s Power Outage On The Central Coast

A massive power outage left much of the Central Coast in the dark Sunday night.PGandE-Logo

PG&E officials are still trying to determine what caused it.  The outage Sunday night left about 145,000 customers from Cambria to Los Olivas in the dark from 9:30 to about 1:45 a.m.

Apparently there was an equipment failure at the Morro Bay switch yard, which in turn led to the outage of two transmission lines that feed power to a large part of the Central Coast.

The investigation is expected to be extensive and elaborate.

The darkness led to some vandal activity in Lompoc and San Maria. So far two suspects have been arrested.
