Phone Scam in San Luis Obispo County

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is warning everyone about a phone scam in San Luis Obispo County. Several people have reported that they had been contacted by someone claiming to be from the Sheriff's Office warning that there was a warrant out for their arrest for failing to appear for jury duty.

The caller indicates the resident can clear the warrant by giving them a $1,000 pre-paid debit card or a $1,000 wire transfer. The Sheriff’s Office says they have no connection to these calls, and anyone who receives a call like this should report it to their local law enforcement agency.
