San Luis Obispo Officer Cory Pierce was arrested by FBI agents in February and charged with one count of bribery. He is accused of taking cash and narcotics from two witnesses while working on a multi-agency task force.
In turn, Pierce provided the witnesses – a couple, who cooperated with authorities – with drugs for their own use, along with fake drugs to sell to dealers, according to the FBI.
Pierce was hired by the San Luis Obispo Police Department in September 2006, serving on the special enforcement unit before joining the narcotics unit.
After his arrest, he was placed on paid administrative leave.
A trial date for Pierce was set for May 10 at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
