Possible Norovirus Outbreak at Cal Poly

A Cal Poly student tested positive for norovirus and 27 other students have similar symptoms. The virus, which has symptoms that include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, is the primary cause for the stomach flu and lasts one to three days. It is believed that the virus spread from the Stagecoach music festival in Indio, which was held April 25-27. Treatment includes adequate hydration and medicine for nausea. Campus physician Dr. Greg Thomas says that the number of cases of norovirus on campus is dwindling and that they hope they’ve seen the worst of it.
