Power Returns After Blackout Across Central Coast

Light-BulbThe lights are back on for most of the 145,000 homes and business that were plunged into the dark along California's Central Coast around 9:30 last night.

The widespread outage stretched from Solvang in Santa Barbara County to Cambria in San Luis Obispo County.

The blackout was sparked by the loss of two Pacific Gas & Electric Company transmission lines in Morro Bay that feed the entire Central Coast.

PG&E officials suspect the cause was an equipment failure at a substation.
