Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Dive Team conducted another search and recovery mission yesterday for a plane that crashed off the coast of Oceano on January 14. For the past six days, the Sheriff's Dive Team and Marine Enforcement Division have been searching the area where the plane went down. The divers have been utilizing a number of tools to locate the plane including sonar and an underwater camera. Yesterday, divers found a small, thin piece of fiberglass that's consistent with the aircraft. Conditions on the ocean floor are such that it's becoming increasingly unsafe for the divers. Those conditions are expected to last through Friday. The Sheriff will reassess those conditions on Wednesday to determine if the search will continue, taking into consideration the safety of the divers and the probability of success of the mission.
