Suspected Gang Member Arrested For Criminal Threats Against A Santa Maria Police Officer

Jesse-ContrerasOn Wednesday, May 29th, Detectives from the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Gang Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation into allegations that 27-year-old Jesse Contreras, a suspected gang member from Santa Maria, had made criminal threats against a Santa Maria Police Department Officer. 

Sheriff’s Gang Unit Detectives worked closely with the Santa Maria Police Department during the investigation.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., officers from the Santa Maria Police Department located the suspect, Jesse Contreras, in the 300-block of North Broadway. Contreras was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Gang Unit Detectives and Santa Maria Police Department Officers.

Contreras was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for violations of making criminal threats and gang allegations.  Bail was set at $150,000.
