Two Grover Beach Police Officers Receive “Life Saving Award”

grover_beach_policeAt the Grover Beach City Council meeting, May 20, Officer Reggie Bio and Sergeant Angelo Limon from the Grover Beach Police Department were recognized for receiving a “Life Saving Award” for their outstanding efforts that occurred in April 2013. 

On Sunday, April 21, 2013 at about 1:41 p.m., Officer Reggie Bio and Sergeant Angelo Limon were dispatched to the 300 block of Beckett Street for a report of an assault in progress.  Officer Bio arrived first and found an unconscious, unresponsive 69 year old man on the ground.  

Officer Bio evaluated the man and determined he was not breathing and did not have a pulse.  Officer Bio and Sergeant Limon immediately began CPR, continuing for several minutes until medical personnel arrived to relieve them. 

The victim, Mr. Benjamin Carroll, was transported to the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and then later to the Critical Care Unit at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria. Due to the quick actions of Officer Bio and Sergeant Limon, Mr. Carroll survived.
