Woman Arrested After Leading Police On High Speed Pursuit

Tatum-StewartOn May 14 at 7:18 Deputy Probation Officers from the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department requested Atascadero PD assist with a traffic stop on a white BMW in which the driver 25-year-old Tatum Stewart was wanted for violation of the terms of her probation.

When the deputies attempted to contact Stewart she fled in her vehicle.  APD officers located the vehicle being driven by Stewart and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  Stewart failed to yield to the officers and a vehicle pursuit ensued on several surface streets of Atascadero.

The pursuit reached speeds of approximately 65 MPH and included numerous vehicle code violations.  The pursuit ended when Stewart stopped her vehicle in front of a residence on Campbell Lane where she was taken into custody without further incident.

Stewart was placed under arrest for felony evading and for having fraudulent registration tabs on her vehicle.  This is the second time that Stewart has led APD officers on a pursuit.  The first time was in September 2010 with that pursuit ending in Los Osos with Stewart being taken into custody.
